Programme
Thursday, 3 June 2010 – Responsible Spa – Spa Architecture, Design and Art
In response to evolving worldwide standards for sustainable business models and growing interest by spa professionals to learn more about green business practices and resources, BISA will feature a “Responsible Spa” theme in this year’s event. The conference will be highlighted with presentations by BISA partner, Green Globe, the premiere global certification for the spa, hospitality and travel industries. The creative aspect of spas will also be included with presentations on evolving spa concepts and interior environments integrating sustainability, technology, and multimedia environments.
The day will conclude with an evening of films and discussions focused on water themes and the role of water in the spa industry.

Friday, 4 June 2010 – Spa Business
As the spa industry continues to evolve and diversify, a global outlook is critical to understand diverse economic, demographic, and industry specific drivers stimulating challenges and opportunities facing spa professionals. Responsive to interest in business related topics, BISA will offer a day devoted to the business of spas. Speakers will provide an international perspective on industry trends supported with specific presentations including spa design and development, maximizing business performance, optimizing profitability and strategic marketing and branding.
The evening program will feature introductions by representatives from international spa organizations followed with an opportunity for networking.

Saturday, 5 June 2010 – Spas, Medicine, Wellness and the Healing Arts
Spas, medicine and the healing arts have centuries of tradition throughout the world. With references to historical influences and an examination of spas in a contemporary context, this day will focus on the role of spas in the wellness, healing arts, and medical arenas including developments in the medical and wellness tourism markets.
Expanding upon “responsible spa” themes throughout the conference, issues such as safety and ingredient transparency will be included with topics addressing evolving international standards for personal care products.
The day will conclude with a cocktail party and networking evening.
