BISA
BISA is the British International Spa Association, a non-profit association set up by professionals in order to establish minimum standards and quality of service to the Spa Industry.
The Association sets standards for spas in two ways: education and health improvement. It ensures high level training for staff and promotes the benefits of spa treatments for clients. This approach is successfully establishing the standards of quality and service world-wide in the fast growing international spa industry.
The BISA is aimed at:
- Individuals who are, or want to become, fully trained Spa Therapists.
- Spa outlets who wish to operate within the recognised wavebands of the Association.
- Schools who wish to train Spa Therapists to recognised standards.
BISA Education
BISA acts as an educational platform for the industry, endorsing spa therapist qualifications gained at BISA approved schools, and assisting with the recruitment of staff for the emerging Spa Industry. BISA accredited Spa Schools are inspected for their teaching standards and facilities. BISA training has achieved the highest standards in the industry, and the SQA Scottish Government Qualifications Authority has accredited the units.
Working in close partnership with the SQA, BISA has developed a new certificate which employers, trainers and colleges can make use of to train their staff to a high level of competence within the spa industry.
The BISA Waves of Excellence
BISA has also become the leading representative body for spa accreditation world-wide: The BISA Waves of Excellence are a grading system developed to indicate that a spa is operating to an overall high standard, and the number of waves show, at a glance, the range of services and facilities available.
